Meet the lead cast of Oklahoma

Glen (one of the directors) gave us the advice that ``once you stop making the production about yourselves you will see the full greatness of the ensemble of the show``.  After 3 months of practice and countless hours of hard work, I believe that he is right, the show if finally coming together.  No one will ever convince me that this show, although non-profit, is not a professional show.  The dedication that the cast and crew have given is relentless; you really have to be disciplined, determined and love the arts.  I had forgotten how exciting it is to see the results of hard work when everyone comes together.

If you did not know, the musical Oklahoma was written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II and opened on Broadway on March 31, 1943.  The story is a 1906 rendition of a love story about a cowman, Curly (Jordan Marchand) and a farm girl Laurie (Stefania Vetere) and a secondary romance between cowman Will Parker (Mike Melino) and his funny flirtatious fiancĂ©e Ado Annie (Dominique Thornhill).

Aunt Eller (Gail Marchand), Laurie`s aunt and respected community leader aims to keep the peace between rivals Jud Fry (Simon Cote) and Curly while Ali Hakim (Nathaniel Villanueva) a Persian peddler entangles himself within the story with Ado Annie but finds himself in situations beyond his control with Ado Annie`s father, Andrew Carnes (John Wilson) and Gertie Cummings (Shannon Marchand).

This show has superb vocal talent, creative and entertaining characters and is full of comedy and wit.  And of course, you don`t want to miss me in the back dressed in my farmer costume (lol). All in all it will be a great reason to visit Hudson and to join us for a night out at the theatre. This is all for a great cause so don`t forget to buy your tickets at: http://www.villagetheatre.ca/Show/139.aspx.
