For those that don`t know, I am a huge fan of stand-up comedy and I love to laugh. One of my favorite quotes by Bill Cosby is "Through humor, you can soften some of the worst blows that life delivers. And once you find laughter, no matter how painful your situation might be, you can survive it.``
Last night I ventured out to St-Leonard to see some very talented stand-up comedians. If you are easily offended, have a problem with profanity and/or you are too uptight, this show is not for you. Quoting Freddie James,``This is not a show that you tell the jokes the next day at church``. (lol)
I think funny men Tony Riccio (Heavy T) and Franco Taddeo did an amazing job putting together the comedy gala.
Guido Cocomello gave an awesome funny outlook on life growing up Italian. I think when a comedian can take their own life stories and make people laugh is when a comedian shines on stage. And for the ladies, although he has a girlfriend, he really is nice eye-candy. (lol)
I didn`t understand why everyone kept calling Freddie James the ``Bad Boy`` of comedy until now. I have heard Freddie sing for many years with The Freddie James Project but had never seen him perform as a stand-up comic. Holy Crap! I think the reason he is so funny is because he doesn`t sugar coat anything and I mean anything. From sexual stories, to racial stories to blunt out remarks, he is not scared to cover to all the details and I mean ALL the details. I laughed so heard I cried.
The crowd was laughing, the ambiance was awesome and I met some really great new and interesting people. You can`t ask for more. Although there was a few critiques I could mention, my mother always told me, ``if you don`t have anything nice to say, don`t say anything at all``. Take the best and leave the rest.
I believe they will try and do the comedy gala every few months. You can follow all the comedians on Facebook by clicking on their names if you are looking for something fun and interesting to do. All in all, it will be a night of laughter and entertainment.
Thanks to the ladies for joining me and to Tony (who is a really nice guy) for making it happen.
