Friedrich Nietzsche once wrote, "You have it your way. I have it my way. As for the right way, the correct way and the only way, it does not exist". I believe that loving oneself can sometimes be one of the most challenging self-realisations to overcome. It is extremely difficult sometimes to just say no. No, I'm not going to be treated that way. No, I don't have to conform. No, I don't have to be. I just want to be me. I think it's a good philosophy.
I had fun writing this track. The dance inspired beat (Thanks Adamack) threw me into a philosophy mode that inspired me to write simple words that projected so many feelings. A huge hug to Nick for his professionalism as well as his patience. I do hope you enjoy it and please don't hesitate to let me know what you think.
On the same note, quoting Ralph Ellison, "All my life I had been looking for something, and everywhere I turned someone tried to tell me what it was. I accepted their answers too, though they were often in contradiction and even self-contradictory. I was naïve. I was looking for myself and asking everyone except myself questions which I, and only I, could answer. It took me a long time and much painful boomeranging of my expectations to achieve a realization everyone else appears to have been born with: that I am nobody but myself.".
